The Second Date
When we met, Anton was working in his father's textile business with his half-brother. He handled sales in the Far East, Middle East and New Zealand. I was living in Singapore, having been brought up in Singapore, and was working with Singapore Airlines as a flight attendant.
During our first date over breakfast in Tokyo, which led into lunch, Anton asked if we could meet up in Singapore a couple of weeks later, especially as his brother David, who was living in Sydney, Australia, was coming over to meet him and it was his first visit. He wanted me to show David around and I agreed. Anton later told me that he had to call my telephone number in Singapore to make sure that I hadn't given him a dud number!
So we met up again in Singapore at the end of October 1982, at the Shangri-La Hotel, where they were staying. And I suppose I should say that our feelings for each other started to grow and we decided to begin our long-distance romantic journey together.
